To the Editor-in-Chief

Leonardo Campanile

Dear friends:

It is a pleasure to extend congratulations to all gathered to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of L'Idea.

In 1974, L'Idea was born as a newsletter for the purpose of perpetuating an appreciation of the Pugliese heritage amongthe vast Molese community of the Empire State. It has been the stimulus which has kept a vibrant Pugliese community informed and connected to the land of their forebears. During the past 25 years, L'Idea has evolved into an affective publication which has been able to meet the needs of a growing immigrant community and is now enjoyed by the Italian-American community-at-large. In recent years, L'Idea has also focused on other initiatives, such as seminars aimed at the continuation and strengthening of the cultural and economic ties which already exist between our two peoples. The creation of a Miss L'Idea Pageant to offer deserving young women the opportunity to compete for a valuable educational scholarship is a wonderful way to celebrate L'Idea 25th Anniversary. Best wishes as L'Idea celebrates this evening, and congratulations to the Editor-in Chief, Leonardo Campanile, his staff, the members of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce and to all who are gathered to mark this milestone.

Very truly yours

George E. Pataki
